Mechanical Engineering Department

...

The department has adopted Outcome Based Education system. The adopted vision, mission, Program Educational Objectives and Program Learning Outcomes can be found over here. To impart high quality mechanical engineering education through modern teaching and research for the national and international socio-economic development. Recently the department has adopted Outcome based learning education system.

Mechanical Engineering Department Mission

“To produce engineers with broad and in-depth knowledge, creativity, who are capable of solving mechanical engineering problems, following professional ethics. ”

Program Educational Objectives (PEO’s)

The Program Educational Objectives are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve after three to five years of graduation. The PEO’s for the B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering program reflect the vision and mission of the Institute and the mission of the program. They are important for successful professional practice and the ability to pursue advanced degrees.

PEO 1

Apply the knowledge to solve analytical and practical engineering problems

PEO 2

Work for the continuous socio-technical development of the society.

PEO 3

Exhibit strong communication, and managerial skills, as team leaders as well as team members.

Strategic Plans to Achieve the PEOs

The following strategic characteristics and aspirations will enable the department to realize its vision and mission of Mechanical department:

SP1: Undergraduate curricula that emphasize breadth and depth of education, which link contiguous to Mechanical Engineering

SP2: Graduate education that prepares students for research and advanced problem solving techniques to solve complex engineering problems/open ended labs.

SP3: Links with Stakeholders and industries offering projects to undergraduate students for technical development of industries and society

SP4:Educational and research partnerships with other national universities.

SP5:Successful Alumni who contribute to the profession in the global society.

SP6: Student group projects and final year projects; assist to enhance the abilities and managerial skills of undergraduate students to become a good team leader.

QCET Vision

To become nationally and internationally recognized institute by producing competent and ethically strong individuals for the leadership role in socio-economic development of the nation3.

QCET Mision

The mission of QCET as an engineering institute is to deliver excellent engineering education by providing innovative research facilities and inculcating strong ethical values in engineering graduates to solve complex engineering problems that can engage them as leaders in service to the society.

Program Mision

To produce engineers with broad & in-depth knowledge, creativity, who are capable of solving mechanical engineering problems, following professional ethics

Processes to Evaluate the Achievement of PEOs

PEOs are mainly assessed through Alumni and Employer surveys after 3 to 5 years of graduation. PEOs are identified and refined by the Institute in consultation with the stakeholders; namely employers, alumni, industrial advisory board and placement bureau. The PEOs assessment process and review method is shown in Figure
